For those that don’t know what a Debt Jubilee is, let me briefly explain. The word Jubilee is from the Bible. Leviticus. Essentially it means that the whole community’s debt has been forgiven them, everything owned by the community, whether personal or business, is divided up into equal shares and given to the community.
Though the Democratic party has yet to call their Green New Deal a Debt Jubilee, it’s very means suggests that it is. Now, don’t get me wrong, I believe a partial Debt Jubilee would do wonders for our failing economy. (I say failing because it’s a never-ending struggle)
However, to include all that is in the Green New Deal and declare those debts forgiven in today’s present economy would be a complete disaster, and the programs in the Green New Deal do just that.
It all boils down to a socialists movement of the millennials seeking a better way of life. And, they have good reason. The millennials make up 27% of America’s population. It’s money and hopelessness that drives them to destructive ways when no one is listening to their concerns.
As for Socialism, it’s been gaining ground in US politics for quite some time now. NAFTA was one program born of it, and it all but killed the infrastructure. It seems The Left can never come up with programs that are designed to work for 50+ year’s. Even the Green New Deal isn’t designed to begin paying for itself for the first 10 years. See what I mean? The proposed cost put before the American people for this monstrosity is $93 trillion dollars for the first 10 year’s, even before it starts paying for itself. My question is, ‘How can it?’ My personal calculations put the first 10 year’s costs at more than $212 trillion.
I can’t believe destroying all that we have and what we have worked for so long and hard, is worth throwing out the window, just to pay a nation’s irresponsible youth’s debt, with programs that have already destroyed other nations. Take a good long look at Venezuela.
Again, the people do have a legitimate gripe to consider. People are watching the news and hearing the economy is getting stronger. That couldn’t be further from the truth. From 1973 to 2017, net productivity rose 77%. While hourly pay rates only increased 12.4% over the same amount of time.
Low income earners now make less in real terms than they did in 1980. Below the middle class level, more and more Americans are forced to borrow to survive. More than 35% of young American males live with their parents. Americans now have more than 1.6 trillion in college loans that can’t be paid. Americans also have more than 1.2 trillion dollars in credit card debt. 74% of all Americans will die owing more than $60,000 in debt.
Even though these numbers are staggering, they are no where near the numbers of the Green New Deal, a socialist ploy by The Left that would absolutely destroy the United States of America. And I ask you one simple question: Wouldn’t having open borders and illegal elections only greatly compound current problems?
Think about it. God bless you.
