Facebook Removes Ban on Crypto and Blockchain Ads

After one year of placing restrictions, Facebook decided to remove the ban on cryptocurrency and blockchain based ads.

In January, 2018 the social media firm Facebook decided that the ads involving blockchain technology, Educational information, industry news and event that are related to cryptocurrency must have prior written approval before displaying ads.

But on May 8th, Facebook updated its advertisement policy and announced that the restrictions on cryptocurrency and blockchain related ads have been lifted. However, it was also clear from Facebook that they will continue to ban ads on ICO (Initial Coin Offering) as well as ads from binary options due to the complexity of the topic and misleading ads.

Facebook confirmed that they are committed to preventing misleading advertising on a Facebook platform especially in the area of financial products and services. For this reason, people who want to advertise cryptocurrency and related products like cryptocurrency exchanges and mining software/hardware still have to follow a review process.
