- Apple has lowered the price for the MacBook Air at the same time by 100 euros from 1349 to 1249 euros. For the entry-level version with 128 gigabyte (GB) SSD.
- Apple has taken as part of the new announcements the super-slim MacBook with 12-inch display from the offer.
- When it was first introduced ten years ago, the first MacBook Air was just the right mix: it was super-flat, lightweight and very sturdy.
This rarely happens: Apple has improved one of its MacBooks while lowering its price. Another was upgraded by an omission, and a third was removed from the offer.
The so-called back-to-school season is just beginning in the USA. The term refers to the time at the end of summer vacation, when students cover themselves with new material for the coming school year or semester. US corporations always accompany these times with special discounts – and sometimes with new products. Apple launches its back-to-school program this year with updates for its most affordable MacBooks.
From now on, the screen of the MacBook Air will be equipped with Apple True-Tone technology, which used to be known mainly from iPhones and iPads. By adjusting the color temperature, True Tone ensures that colors on the screen always look the same, whether the surroundings are flooded with sunlight, dimly lit or illuminated by neon tubes.
Unusually, Apple has lowered the price for the MacBook Air at the same time by 100 euros ($112) from 1349 to 1249 euros. For the entry-level version with 128 gigabytes (GB) SSD.
At the same time, Apple has upgraded the entry-level model of the MacBook Pro by omitting the function keys in the future. Instead, this model is now equipped with the so-called Touch Bar, a kind of mini-screen above the keyboard. The operating system and programs can dynamically occupy the Touch Bar with its own functions, which can be selected at the touch of a finger. Previously, this technique was reserved for more expensive MacBook Pro models.
Unlike the MacBook Air, the price of small MacBook Pro remains unchanged at 1499 euros. But also you get now in this version, eighth generation Intel processors. However, Apple continues to build only a 128 GB SSD in this model, which hardly meets the “pro” claim. In order to be able to work reasonably with the device one should prefer equal to the model with 256 GB SSD grab, which costs equal to 1749 euro.
Completely without comment, Apple has taken as part of the new announcements the super-slim MacBook with the 12-inch display from the offer. Presumably, the hitherto smallest and thinnest Apple notebook had a hard time compared to the end of 2018 with a new design, new technology and a new screen from MacBook Air, which is also cheaper.
When it was first introduced ten years ago, the first MacBook Air was just the right mix: it was super-flat, lightweight and very sturdy. Now Apple has drilled the air technically: new screen, new processor, new memory, new trackpad, new speakers, fingerprint scanner and new ports.
With 2560 x 1600 pixels, the new screen has a resolution three times higher than that of the old MacBook Air – and you can see that fonts are sharper, curved lines and gradients displayed continuously.
That is the immediately noticeable and biggest advance over the old model. Also, the fact that the frame around the screen has become thinner just looks good and makes the notebook a bit smaller.
