Pit bulls are the most misunderstood breed on the planet. I rescued my first one almost 7 years ago by accident when I went to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay looking for an Old English Bulldog to adopt. I was going to name him "Luca Brasi" after my favorite character from the Godfather movie. When I got there they did not have any for adoption. As I was walking by one kennel I saw a cute little brown puppy and he caught my attention. There was some body looking at him so I grabbed his paper out of the sleeve on his cage and took it upfront so I could have a meet and greet. It went well so I adopted him right then and there. The thing is his paper said "pit bull mix" and up until this time I believed everything I had heard about them. So here I am adopting a dog that is supposed to be mean and aggressive. Well I guess if you believe the term, every thing happens for a reason, in this case it is true. From the time I brought him home until now I have studied and learned everything I could about them. I started my first Facebook page 5 years ago and have built it into a brand name in the pit bull community. Since then I have built 3 Facebook groups, 2 more FB pages, 1 Twitter page and a blog. I am working on starting a podcast also. My background is in sales and marketing but I am now focusing on my passion to save a breed and end the discrimination.
