Palestinians to Resume Friday Protests along the Gaza Border

After a three week lull, demonstrations will resume on Friday at the Gaza Border fence. The High National Committee for the March of Return announced the organization of demonstrations at the border Friday. The decision to resume the weekly border protests came as Hamas and Palestine Islamic Jihad leaders continued their discussions in Cairo with senior Egyptian intelligence officials about reaching a long term ceasefire with Israel. The Hamas delegation is headed by Ismail Haniyeh, while Islamic Jihad is headed by their secretary general.

On Tuesday, over 70 notable Israeli entrepreneurs signed a letter urging lawmakers to prevent the political uncertainty from progressing. On Wednesday, a collective of tech industry heads sent a letter to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asking him to resign in light of the corruption charges brought against him. Four Missiles Fired at Israel from Syria, Israel retaliates

On Tuesday morning, before dawn, four missiles were fired from Syria at Israel. Communities in the Golan Heights and Upper Galilee heard sirens.  The Iron Dome defense system intercepted these rockets.  This was the first confrontation between Israel and the Iran-backed military in Syria in several months. US Softens Position on West Bank Settlements

Secretary of State Pompeo announced on Monday that the US is softening its position on West Bank Settlements in the occupied West Bank. Pompeo said the US repudiates a 1978 State Department legal opinion that civilian settlements in the occupied territories are inconsistent with international law. This move by America has already angered Jordan and will anger other nations in the Middle East and Europe. Over 250 Rockets from Gaza Thrown at Israel Civilians

Starting Tuesday morning, over 250 rockets have been shot at the Israel civilian population in the Southern settlements up to Tel Aviv after a targeted attack on a commander in Islamic Jihad in Gaza.  The rocket fire brought life in much of Israel to a standstill and schools remained closed in communities close to the Gaza border. Israel Politics – Deadline Date November 20 for Benny Gantz

Benjamin Netanyahu surrendered his mandate when he was unable to put together a government with him as Prime Minister. Benny Gantz received the mandate for 28 days without permission for an extension like was given to Netanyahu. The deadline date is November 20.

Benny Gantz has met with the United Arab Party who have 13 seats in the Knesset in case they are included in his new government. The Gantz Blue-White party received 33 seats, Labor-Gesher 6, Dem Union 5 for a total of 57 mandates.  They are four short of forming a narrow government of 61 mandates. This narrow government will have a strong Arab influence on defense and economics which may be dangerous.

East Jerusalem and the West Bank was once part of Jordan. In November of 1988 Yasser Arafat, Chairman of the PLO, proclaimed the establishment of the State of Palestine. A year after signing the Oslo accords the Palestinian National Authority was established to govern areas A and B in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. In 1979 through the Camp David Accords Jordan ceded its claim to the West Bank. During the negotiations of the Oslo Accord the PLO recognized the right of Israel to exist and Israel recognized the PLO as the representative of the Palestinian people.

Israel Politics Deadlocked While Tensions Build in the North and South

On Saturday while Israelis were celebrating the Sabbath at 9 p.m. sirens were sounded in Southern Israel when ten rockets were shot from Gaza.  Most of these rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome Defense system but one rocket managed to get through and damage a house in the settlement city of Sederot.  There were no injuries. Israel carried out a series of aerial attacks in response to the rocket attack. Officials in the Gaza strip said that a 27-year old man was killed during an air strike on a military training camp and three other Palestinians were wounded. Hamas threatened to respond on what it called “Israel crimes and aggression against our people.”

No Agreements Yet in Making United Government in Israel

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was given first chance to make a government.  The deadline will soon be in one week.  In the meantime he has presented a proposal to the Blue-White party of Benny Gantz which they have refused.  They claim that Netanyahu is only stalling because of his possible indictment which will be finalized in November. On Wednesday October 9, the Jewish people celebrate the high holy day of Yom Kippur, a fast day beginning at the night until the next evening 24 hours.  On the day of Yom Kippur the whole Jewish nation would gather in Jerusalem at the holy temple for the ceremonies and prayers.  One of the miracles of the Holy temple was that the whole nation of all the men of Israel were able to fit in the four corners of the temple and worship together include prostrating themselves on the ground.  Yom Kippur is a one day high holiday representing the faith in the one God the creator of the universe.

Arab Assassination of Revolutionary Guard Commander Qasem Soleimani Foiled

On Tuesday during an annual leadership meeting by the head of the IRGC Intelligence Organization Hossein Taub Soleimani revealed in a rare interview that an assassination attempt had been made on his life. The identities of the suspects has still not been revealed. The assassination was planned for several years.  Through the assassination it was hoped that it would spark an internal Iranian power struggle and trigger a religious war within Iran.  The suspects who are Iranian were sent abroad and trained to make the attack.

Israel Government Still in Deadlock – No Progress in Forming Unity Government

President of Israel Reuven Riblin at the 22nd inaugural meeting of the Knesset said that Israeli Democracy is in a state of emergency and a government must be formed as soon as possible. Knesset speaker Yuli Edelstein addressed the long period of political uncertainty from April since the 21st Knesset was dissolved without making a government. They both called for a unity government. They said that Israelis will not forgive the leaders of the two major parties if a third election is held within a year.

Rosh HaShanna – The Jewish New Year

Israel and Jews in the whole world will be celebrating their New Year’s day on Monday September 30, 2019. Two days are celebrated in which it is forbidden to do work.  The Nation of Israel honors Rosh HaShanna as a national holiday.  The observance of Rosh HaShanna is mentioned in the Bible Number 29: 1-5 “ In the seventh month the first of the month is a holy day where all work is forbidden called the day of the blasting of the Shofar the ram’s horn.”  There were specific sacrifices that were made on Rosh Hashanna in the holy temple.

Israel Election Developments – Forming a United Government

The results of the Israel elections are final.  Benny Gantz of the Blue-White party has defeated Netanyahu winning 33 mandates while Netanyahu and Likud received 31 mandates.  The government consists of 120 mandates which is divided by all the various parties in the Israel coalition.  The candidate who receives the most mandates like Benny Gantz has the first opportunity to make a majority government of 61 mandates.  The President of Israel Reuven Rivlin is working to help Gantz achieve this majority.

Israeli went to the polls on Tuesday in a second attempt to make a government.  The first attempt failed when there was a standoff between the major left candidate Benny Gantz of the Blue-White party and Prime Minister Netanyahu representing Likud on the right.  Neither of the two candidates were able to gather together enough mandates (including in any coalition) to reach to a majority.

Israel Election on Tuesday – Forecasts Predict Another Stalemate

On Tuesday September 17 elections will be held for the second time this year in Israel. The first elections ended up in a stalemate and forecasts for the coming elections show similar results. Both sides, right and left, have campaigned and organized their parties in preparation for the coming elections. The right is led by Benjamin Netanyahu of Likud.  The left is led by Benny Gantz of the Blue-White Party.  Netanyahu in the previous elections received an equal amount of mandates as Gantz (35) but was unable to make a government combining mandates from other parties to reach the required majority of 61 mandates. Gantz also was unable to reach this number so new elections were called by President Reuven Riblin.

On Saturday September 7 two Israeli a boy 17 years old and his father were going to a dental clinic in an Arab village near the Palestinian town of Azzun.   A fifteen year old local teenage approached the two and asked is they were Jewish, then stabbed them.  The boy was seriously injured and the father was slightly injured in the attack. The Arab boy surrendered himself to the Palestinian security forces. The two Jews were rescued by the Arab dentist who they had intended to visit for a treatment.
