- This is not a first time a virologist has alleged the Coronavirus came from a lab.
- An Indian lab was one of the first to make similar allegations.
- Manmade or not, there should be forced compensation to be paid by China to all the nations impacted by the virus.
Chinese virologist Li-Meng Yan, who worked in a Hong Kong lab, published a report on Zemodo, an open-access digital platform, alleging the SARS-CoV-2 virus is manmade. According to Dr. Li’s abstract, “SARS-CoV-2 shows biological characteristics that are inconsistent with a naturally occurring, zoonotic virus.”
The abstract continues:
In this report, we describe the genomic, structural, medical, and literature evidence, which, when considered together, strongly contradicts the natural origin theory. The evidence shows that SARS-CoV-2 should be a laboratory product created by using bat coronaviruses ZC45 and/or ZXC21 as a template and/or backbone. Building upon the evidence, we further postulate a synthetic route for SARS-CoV-2, demonstrating that the laboratory-creation of this coronavirus is convenient and can be accomplished in approximately six months.
Currently, the Coronavirus continues to impact nations around the world. There are over 29.7 million infected and over 930,000 deaths around the globe. It is also expected that the Coronavirus’ second wave will happen during the cooler weather months.
This is not a first time a virologist has alleged the Coronavirus came from a lab. In April, virologist Luc Antoine Montagnier claimed that the coronavirus was accidentally released as China was searching for a vaccine against the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
Dr. Montagnier, along with Doctors Françoise Barré-Sinoussi and Harald zur Hausen, were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2008 for their joint discovery of HIV in the 1980s. Dr. Montagnier is 100% sure the virus was designed by molecular biologists. Most of the scientific community, however, is not.
Additionally, an Indian lab was one of the first to make similar allegations of the Coronavirus being manmade, but their findings were suppressed at the time.
Moreover, former Russian adviser to the UN Secretary-General on chemical and biological weapons, Igor Nikulin, made a statement in May during one of his interviews to the Russian media. He emphasized that the Coronavirus is a manmade virus.
The virus did not mutate naturally from the animals, he argues. It was tampered with to create such a virus. However, in the case of Nikulin, he did not accuse Chinese lab of the virus creation.
Taiwan also had similar suspicions, in regards to the Coronavirus’ origin. Unfortunately, due to the challenging political situation and unwanted relationship with China, Taiwan couldn’t afford to research that theory further.
The Chinese defector, Dr. Li, promises to publish additional work pertaining to the research that she has done to further substantiate her claims.
Manmade or not, there should be forced compensation to be paid by China to all the nations impacted by the virus. The question should be asked, is it time to charge Chinese officials with crimes against humanity?
There are still many unanswered questions, but hopefully the resolution with vaccines, and following the proper guidelines, will aid the world to get rid of the COVID-19 pandemic.
