Coronavirus — 1,153 New Cases, 23 New Deaths in Gujarat

  • The highest number of cases of coronavirus, 274, was reported in Surat district today.

There were 1,153 new cases of coronavirus infection reported in Gujarat today, while 23 people died. According to the statistics released by the state health department, the highest number of 11 infected people died in Surat district. This was followed by four in Ahmedabad, three in Vadodara, two in Rajkot, and 1-1 in Junagadh, Kheda, and Mehsana districts.

Gujarat is a state on the western coast of India with a coastline of 1,600 km (990 mi) – most of which lies on the Kathiawar peninsula – and a population in excess of 60 million. It is the fifth largest Indian state by area and the ninth largest state by population.

The highest number of cases of coronavirus, 274, was reported in Surat district today, out of which 219 cases were reported in Surat city and 65 cases elsewhere in the district. As per the information, 176 cases have been registered in Ahmedabad district today.

Apart from this, 94 cases have been reported in Vadodara, 79 in Rajkot, and 40 in the capital Gandhinagar. The total epidemic death toll in the state has risen to 2,441 with today’s figures, while the total number of infected people in the state so far has reached 61,438.

According to Worldometers data, a total of 680,202 people have died due to coronavirus. The death toll from the coronavirus in the United States has risen to 156,246. Brazil ranks second on the list, with 91,607 deaths. The UK is third, with 46,119 deaths, and Mexico is fourth with 46,000.

India ranks sixth in terms of the death toll, and is on the verge of reaching fifth. In India, 36,551 people have died, while in Italy (fifth place), 35,141 people have fallen victim to coronavirus.

There are nearly 18 million cases of coronavirus in the world. In terms of numbers, the US (4.7 million), Brazil (2.6 million), and India (1.7 million) rank first, second, and third, respectively in this list. Russia ranks fourth with 839,981 cases.

The first case of the COVID-19 pandemic in India was reported on 30 January 2020, originating from China. As of July 31, there have been 36,551 deaths reported from nearly 1.7 million cases.

According to data from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there are 528,242 active (33.5 percent) cases in India, 1020,582 (64.44 percent) have recovered, while 34,968 have died. This indicates an average of 2.21 percent.

Ahmedabad Dealing with Deadly TB During Coronavirus Pandemic

The Coronavirus is currently causing havoc across the state. So far, more than 2,400 people have died from the coronavirus in Ahmedabad, the largest city in the state of Gujarat. Amidst the Coronavirus epidemic, TB is also becoming fatal in Ahmedabad. A right to information (RTI) request by an enlightened citizen has come up with shocking revelations about TB in Ahmedabad.

In Ahmedabad, 4-5 patients die every day due to coronavirus. In addition, TB kills 2-3 people every day in the city. Between the years 2015-2019, at least 55,648 cases of TB were reported in Ahmedabad city. And out of them, 3,358 patients have died. If we look at the death toll from TB by year, 723 people died in 2019, 775 in 2018, and 744 in 2017.

Another shocking revelation in the RTI is that Ahmedabad has the highest number of TB cases in the Asarwa area. The largest civil hospital is located in the Asarwa area. Asarwa has 63 deaths in 2017, 71 in 2018, and 53 in 2019 due to TB. This shocking revelation was made in the RTI done by the awakened citizen.
