More than 600 people have been infected with coronavirus overnight in Tamil Nadu. Of these, 509 are receiving treatment at various government hospitals in Chennai, the health department said. The number of people infected with coronavirus in the state has increased to 7,204.
Most affected districts are Chennai (509) and Chengalpattu (43), while the number of new infections in other districts has decreased significantly. It has been reported that only one person has been infected with the infection in Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Tirupattur, Karur, and Cuddalore districts.
Out of a total of 7,204 affected persons in Tamil Nadu, 6337 persons are in the age group of 13-60 years. The number of victims of coronavirus in Tamil Nadu yesterday was 44. As of now, that number has risen to 47. Today, the number of people healed has risen to 1,959, as 135 people have recovered in a single day.
To date, 243,037 samples have been tested to confirm coronavirus infection. Of these, 13,367 samples were tested in a single day. Earlier, the government of Tamil Nadu announced that there were no curfews in the disease-free areas, and extended the time to operate essential shops, parcels, and petrol.
The temporary vegetable market in the city has been closed due to the closure of the Coimbatore vegetable market. Colleges and exhibition camps in various parts of Chennai serve as temporary shelters. In addition, state-run temporary shelters are gradually shrinking as transit workers are able to move to their home state.
Tea Shops Reopen in Tamil Nadu
Tea shops have been granted permission to operate as part of the Coronavirus curfew in Tamil Nadu. The order is effective from Monday. Relief has been brought to Chennai, the rest of Tamil Nadu alone, and to other parts of Tamil Nadu. There are no restrictions in areas where the disease has been reported as part of the disease, the Tamil Nadu government said.
Essential commodities, such as vegetables and grocery stores across Tamil Nadu, will operate from 6 AM to 7 PM in the borders of the Metropolitan Madras Police Department. Other shops operate from 10:30 AM to 6 PM. In all parts of Tamil Nadu, except the metropolitan Madras Police Border, shops selling essential items will operate from 6 AM to 7 PM. Other shops operate from 10 AM to 7 PM.
Tea shops in all parts of Tamil Nadu (except the disease control areas), including Chennai Corporation, are allowed to operate the parcel service only from 6 AM to 7 PM. Also, disinfectant to be applied five times daily and keep the store clean. Customers are not allowed to eat anything in the store, standing or sitting. Tea shops that fail to comply with this will be closed immediately. Petrol pumps will operate from 6 AM to 6 PM in the metropolitan Madras Police Border. Gasoline pumps on national and state highways will operate 24 hours a day.
