At least four people were shot dead, and six others sustained serious injuries on Sunday night when an armed person broke into a private residence in the city of Fresno, California, where several people, including children, had gathered to watch a football game.

Fresno is a city in and the county seat of Fresno County, California, United States. Fresno is the fifth-most populous city in California, the most populous inland city in California, and the 34th-most populous city in the nation.

Police said there were at least 35 people in the house, in a family reunion, when a suspect entered the backyard and opened fire. “Everyone was watching football this evening when unknown suspects approached the residence, snuck into the backyard and opened fire,” local deputy police chief Michael Reid told news reporters at the scene. “Three people died at the scene, all men between 25 and 30 years old. Another one who was wounded and was in critical condition was rushed to the hospital, from where he died,” the officer added, explaining that the victims had Asian features.

The other six injured people are out of danger, according to local authorities. It is not ruled out that there is more than one suspect. The perpetrators of the shooting fled, and the police are leaving no stone un-turned in as far as tracking the suspects is concerned. From; examining surveillance cameras to interrogating neighbors, the police are determined to bring the attack proprietors to justice. Lt. Bill Dooley, a police spokesman, announced that the police “will go door to door, inspect the surveillance cameras and speak to additional witnesses to reconstruct what exactly happened in regard to the bloody attack.

Gun Violence Archive (GVA) is a nonprofit research group with accompanying website and social media delivery platforms which catalogs every incident of gun violence in the United States. GVA contains a database of known shootings in the United States, gleaned from 6,500 law enforcement, media and government sources.

“At the moment, We have no suspects or information about suspects, nor vehicles,” he explained. The motive for the killing is also still unknown and is being investigated, Reid said, indicating that for now there are no indications that it is a gang attack. “We will do everything we can to find out who the aggressors are and bring them to justice,” Reid continued. “Our hearts go out to the families of the victims of this thing,” Mr Reed said. “This was senseless violence. We’re going to do everything we can to find out who the perpetrators were and bring them to justice.”

Choua Vang, a neighbor of the house where the attack occurred, told the media that another shooting was recorded in that area last week. “I’m afraid to go outside when the sun goes down,” he said. “We are thinking of moving from this neighborhood; we don’t know how many more shootings there will be,” he added.

The United States has been the scene in recent years of mass shootings, which have left many people shocked, and fueled the debate on the free possession of firearms. According to the Gun Violence Archive, 370 mass shootings were reported this year in the United States. The two most recent one’s before the Sunday night attack in California occurred at a residence in San Diego and at a school in Santa Clarita, near Los Angeles.

News reporting is my thing. My view of what is happening in our world is colored by my love of history and how the past influences events taking place in the present time.  I like reading politics and writing articles. It was said by Geoffrey C. Ward, "Journalism is merely history's first draft." Everyone who writes about what is happening today is indeed, writing a small part of our history.
