Log In | Lost Password EDITORIAL GUIDELINES
Communal News accepts submissions from series authors and reviews them for clarity, consistency and news value. Among other principles, our editors follow the following criteria in deciding whether or not to publish an article:
News Value: Does this news have a wide audience? Is it topical? Does it provide valuable information to readers? Write about an industry, or retail news in sports, business, stocks, politics, or more. Submissions making claims must be professional sourced with links and factually backed up. Well Written and Clear: In order to best use our editorial resources, we may reject articles that require extensive copy-editing, are poorly written, or unusually long. Sourced: As a general rule, we’d like to see three links within each report, to sources, additional information or websites of people, places or organizations mentioned. Balanced: We require our paid contributors covering topics of public interest to be fair to all sides, neutral in tone and balanced in coverage. Fundamental analysis: However, articles clearly intended to convey a strong viewpoint are welcome. Just let the reader know. Address a competitive environment, management, products, corporate strategy, or future outcomes. We look for well-presented and informed opinions based on rigorous analysis with links. Pure opinion will be published in the blog section. Accurate: Authors should deliver accurate, supportable facts to our readers. Blog: Articles that don’t meet our standards are still eligible for publication on the blog side of our site. No payment will be made for a blog posting.
Editorial feedback on articles is intended to support the author in delivering accurate, supportable facts to our readers. Authors are required to disclose any personal connections to people or policies they write about (It’s OK, just disclose it). You can post headlines and excerpts of up to 250 words (but no more than 1/3 of the total article) to your blog or website, with a link back to the full article on Communal News.

Communal News reserves the right to change these Contributor Payment Terms (including, but not limited to, any of the fee rates set out below) at any time by updating this page. Your continued participation in the Contributor Beta Program constitutes your agreement to such changes. In such cases, we will also update the Last Updated date above. Please check this page regularly for any changes.
Only pre-approved writers are eligible for the beta program at the current time. Exclusive Articles by our pre-approved writers accrue $12.25 per 1,000 pageviews or $12.25, whichever is greater.
Communal News may, at its discretion, withhold and/or offset any and all payments for Exclusive Articles under any of the following circumstances: (i) we believe inappropriate methods have been employed to increase traffic; (ii)
your Exclusive Article is published (with or without your permission) in breach of the exclusivity undertaking set forth in the Contributor Terms; (iii) your Exclusive Article is removed by Communal News for any reason.
Communal News or its payment processing provider may send you notification emails updating you as to the status of your article(s) and any payments (for Exclusive Articles), and related to your registration, banking and tax details.
You are responsible for ensuring that the banking details and/or other payment information you provide to Communal News are current at all times. Communal News will not be responsible for paying any banking fees, other charges or interest, including without limitation fees or charges resulting from your failure to comply with these terms, such as those incurred for not being able to pay you, or restoring payments to you that were paid into the wrong account if your payment information is not up to date.
If you are a U.S. person (as defined under U.S. tax law), you agree to provide us with your U.S. tax identification number and a fully-completed Form W-9. We may require submission of other forms for individuals outside the U.S. You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of these forms and for paying all taxes on the amounts we pay you. Both parties agree that you are an independent contractor for Communal News, and not an employee.
Any payments that accrue to you but that cannot be paid out due to lack of accurate payment or tax information, or if you request that Communal News hold your payments,
or due to your not having reached the minimum payout threshold, will revert to Communal News after a period of 12 months. In addition, if we are unable to make payment to you, amounts owed may be subject to state escheat or unclaimed property laws.
We reserve the right to charge you, or offset against future payments, if you provide incorrect account information, for charges imposed on us by the payment services you choose, or for amounts paid for articles submitted by you that we later learn are not owned by you.
When submitting an article for consideration, you may select any of the payment options that appear in the Payment Method section of the Registration Form. Please note that payments can only be made into an account in your name or bearing an email address identical to that which we have on record. Payments will not be made to third parties.

Payments will be made within 30 days from the end of each month.
Please notify as soon as possible if a payment appears to have been missed or is incorrect.
Payments will only be made if there is a minimum of $50 due on your account. Accrued earnings of less than $50 will be rolled over to the next payment period and held for no more than 12 months.
The Beta Program Rate is subject to change and is quoted in $U.S. per 1,000 pageviews. Your monthly payment will be based on the total accrued pageviews of all your Exclusive Articles minus all previous payments.

Your participation in the Contributor Beta Program constitutes your agreement to adhere to the terms and conditions (the “Contributor Terms”) set forth here. Communal News reserves the right to change these Contributor Terms at any time by posting the change here. Your continued participation in the Contributor Beta Program after such date shall constitute your agreement to such changes. General terms regarding Article submissions:
For the avoidance of doubt, an article you submit (an “Article”) is a User Submission and becomes the property of Communal News. Communal News takes reasonable commercial measures to prevent Articles from being republished by other websites or via other technologies. However, Communal News is not responsible or liable for any actions of third parties, including the publication of Exclusive Articles without Communal News’s consent.
Communal News takes certain steps to check whether Articles are free from plagiarism. Proper attribution of content taken verbatim from other sources requires the use of quotation marks and attribution links or footnotes. This includes, but is not limited to, passages taken verbatim from press releases, and other company documents and sources. Plagiarism can also include the submission or posting of content that is repurposed from other sources and presented without reference to the content’s creator. This includes, but is not limited to, content that is paraphrased from another source or could otherwise be deemed by a reasonable person to be a derivative work. Communal News reserves the right to determine if Articles contain plagiarism and may, at its discretion, remove plagiarized content and withhold and/or offset all payment for Articles deemed by us to contain plagiarized elements.
Communal News’s aggregate liability to you under the Contributor Beta Program for all claims of any sort will be as follows: (i) for claims relating to a specific Article, the amount that Communal News has paid you (if any) for that Article; and (ii) for all other claims, the amount that it has paid you (if any) for Articles under this Contributor Beta Program during the six (6) month period prior to your bringing your claim.
We may terminate, suspend or modify the Contributor Beta Program at any time and without notice or obligation to you. You may terminate your participation in the Contributor Beta Program by not submitting any additional Articles. Termination of the Contributor Beta Program, or of your participation in the Contributor Beta Program, shall not terminate any license rights granted to Communal News for Articles submitted prior to such termination.
By posting an article on Communal News (herein referred to as “Exclusive Article”) as a pre-approved Beta Program contributor, you agree that Communal News will be your exclusive publisher for that Exclusive Article, for both online (such as the Site, but also select partner platforms) and offline media (herein referred to as “The License”). Accordingly:
You represent and warrant that: (i) you have not published (or otherwise made available) the Exclusive Article, and will not publish it (or otherwise make it available) on any online or offline media, and (ii) you have not granted, and will not grant, any right or license to any third party that conflicts or is inconsistent with The License you grant Communal News media.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, you may publish a headline and/or brief summary/snippet of the Exclusive Article (up to 250 words but no more than 1/3 of the total Exclusive Article) on any online media, and link to the full Exclusive Article on the online media on which it appears.
The brief summary or snippet may not include images.
References in these Contributor Terms to an “Exclusive Article” shall also be deemed to include and apply to any article (or similar Content) that is substantially similar to the Exclusive Article, or that is a derivative work of the Exclusive Article. For example, you may not publish a translated version of an Exclusive Article on any online or offline media.
