Well, it’s here!  The much anticipated National Urban Educator Day has finally arrived, and we’re celebrating!  Annually March 9, National Urban Educator Day #urbaneducatorday celebrates urban educators who are committed to the success of students in high-need schools! With the COVID-19 pandemic and so much uncertainty in our world today, now more than ever we salute our dedicated urban educators who stand firmly on the educational frontlines with determination to serve students amid a global pandemic.

Happy Urban Educator Day 2021!

According to the holiday’s website, “Our devoted urban educators deserve a designated day for celebrating devotion to, patience with, and perseverance in their unique educational environment.” National Urban Educator Day™ or NUEDDAY™ even has its own app in the Google Play Store-NUED39™App.  The app has cool features for urban educators like creating color-coded lesson plans, creating to-do lists with photo reminders, managing personalized settings, chatting and more.

COVID may have altered how we celebrate it, but we forever celebrate and salute our urban educators.  The holiday website allows students and faculty to nominate an urban educator of the year, so be sure to do that!   We caught up with National Urban Educator Day founder for commentary, and what was said is absolutely inspirational.

“All of National Urban Educator Day  celebrates each and every one of our beloved and faithful urban educators.  When thunder bolts all of you forever serve well. For that, we are grateful.” -National Urban Educator Day Founder

Such heart-felt, sweet words from the NUEDDAY founder are melting our hearts! Now National Urban Educator Day is celebrated by honoring an urban educator in one’s own unique way.  In 2020, even the Black McDonald’s Operator Association (BMOA) used the official National Urban Educator Day hashtag #urbaneducatorday in a web post celebrating the holiday. Holiday founder says,

COVID-19 has changed the way we gather in groups for events, but we still want to appreciate our urban educators in any way we can .  It takes courage, patience, and dedication to work in high-need schools, or even perhaps work remotely amid COVID. The resources available to urban educators often are not on par with that of non-urban educators.  This means urban educators must be more resourceful and imaginative concerning presenting educational material that students grasp. Many of these educators utilize personal funds to obtain the educational tools they believe will be most efficacious in the classroom environment.  For this, we salute you. Happy National Urban Educator Day 2021!

We thank National Urban Educator Day founder for taking time out of a busy schedule to comment. And we wish all a Happy Urban Educator Day 2021! To learn more, visit www.urbaneducatorday.com.
