So what are some ways to prevent hemorrhoids from becoming an issue. The best advice is to eat a well balanced diet low in meat, and heavy in fiber rich vegetables and beans. Red meat in particular while delicious for an occasional treat, really has no business in our daily diet. It is extremely slow to digest, often clogs the colon, and has been shown to lead to colon cancer. So save the steak for your anniversary or birthday, and switch to smaller portions of fish chicken and other poultry for your daily protein. Split pea soup, lentils, black beans, and many dark green vegetables are all good choices for fiber. Making a menu and basing your meals around getting proper fiber content and nutrition are all good choices. Be careful not to increase fiber too fast, as it can cause very uncomfortable bloating and constipation. Increase your daily dose by 3-5 grams a day each week to slowly work up to it.
Getting your daily hour of exercise, and your 5 minutes per hour stretch break is extremely important, especially for those of us who have sedentary jobs. A kinked bowel is not a pleasant thing for anyone.
