The Hippocratic Oath is well known as the guiding philosophy of physicians, and those in the medical profession. With its roots in early Greek philosophy, it was believed at the time that those who dedicated their life to healing and medicine, must be held to a higher standard of ethics, and that is what the oath stood for. While it has changed over the years (we no longer swear by Apollo for example) the essence of what it stands for has remained the same. Medical professionals must be held to a higher standard.
The 2017 version of the Hippocratic Oath:
I SOLEMNLY PLEDGE to dedicate my life to the service of humanity; THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF MY PATIENT will be my first consideration; I WILL RESPECT the autonomy and dignity of my patient; I WILL MAINTAIN the utmost respect for human life; I WILL NOT PERMIT considerations of age, disease or disability, creed, ethnic origin, gender, nationality, political affiliation, race, sexual orientation, social standing, or any other factor to intervene between my duty and my patient; I WILL RESPECT the secrets that are confided in me, even after the patient has died; I WILL PRACTICE my profession with conscience and dignity and in accordance with good medical practice; I WILL FOSTER the honor and noble traditions of the medical profession; I WILL GIVE to my teachers, colleagues, and students the respect and gratitude that is their due; I WILL SHARE my medical knowledge for the benefit of the patient and the advancement of healthcare; I WILL ATTEND TO my own health, well-being, and abilities in order to provide care of the highest standard; I WILL NOT USE my medical knowledge to violate human rights and civil liberties, even under threat; I MAKE THESE PROMISES solemnly, freely, and upon my honor.
As I read the following it is inspiring. Although the root of human life may be from humble origins, it is truly amazing that even thousands of years ago, we recognized that when someone holds a life, or quality of life of another person in their hands, that they must be held to a higher standard.
AS A MEMBER OF THE MEDICAL PROFESSION:
At Numbify we believe that this standard must be applied to the pharmaceutical industry. We are not manufacturing companies, we are not packaging companies, we are not sales companies. We may do all of those things, but first and foremost we are healthcare companies. We are here to provide the best quality products to our consumers, and improve their health and quality of life. To that end we rely on feedback from those consumers, to improve our products, and make their lives better.
Unfortunately for our industry, most of our competitors don’t feel the same way. On Amazon.com in particular almost the entire lidocaine numbing industry is saturated with fake reviews. Companies buy reviews by the hundreds, or even thousands to deceive people into purchasing their products, or to lower the ratings of their competitors. But Numbify is different. Despite what the rest of the industry does, we hold our heads up high and say our reviews are honest!!! (the positive ones anyway, most of our negative reviews come from competitors.) We hold our place despite these reviews because when our customers try our product, they stay with us.
We also believe we have the strongest numbing cream spray and gel on the market. We don’t just say that we challenge any numbing cream to prove our statement wrong!
Instead of spending our profits on fake reviews, we spend it on research and development. We are constantly searching for better ways to improve and strengthen our product, and implementing those changes. Because of the massive level of consumer fraud being perpetrated by others in our industry, we feel compelled to make a stand against these other companies. We have our own oath we want to share.
Numbify will gladly and proudly stand by our products, and our reviews. We need those reviews to get honest feedback on what we are doing right and wrong for our customers and so we can improve. We will never stop looking for ways to make our products better. We will incorporate healthy natural ingredients whenever possible. We will not deceive our fellow Americans with lies designed to take their money and leave them with sub par merchandise. We will hold ourselves to a higher level of ethics, because we are healthcare professionals, and we must be deserving of the trust that the American people put in us.
