International Holocaust Remembrance Day

  • You cannot take God out of the world.
  • A free state gives each citizen an equal vote equal importance.
  • Nationalism is important especially when the nation is ruled justly.

January 27 was International Holocaust Remembrance Day as designated by the United Nations General Assembly. It is the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. On this annual day of commemoration, the U.N. urges every member state to honor the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and millions of other victims of Nazism and to work to prevent future genocides.

Mankind is faced by the reality, history repeats itself.  However there is work to postpone a future catastrophe to work to maintain an atmosphere of peacetime in the world.  Today in the world there are several hot spots where exists the danger of genocide, like in Yemen the people are starving and suffering. In Syria the people have suffered oppression from Assad in his battle against Syrian rebels and ISIS.  Israel is fighting for stability under the pressures of Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, and Hamas.  Venezuela is suffering national instability and civil war.  Only the General Assembly understands all the places in the world which needs the support of the United Nations.

The United Nations was formed to prevent a future genocide and to attempt to help nations in the world which need strengthening through uniting the world in the goal of World Unity and Peace.  Myself as a Rabbi is to bring an understanding from the Bible of the source of war and the way of peace.

Through approaching life as a humanitarian without the guidance of the Bible, it is impossible to reach a perfect solution to life’s sufferings. You cannot take God out of the world.  Religions have penetrated the world and have the support of mankind.  The Goal of World Peace requires reaching a balance between humanitarian and religion, nationalism and globalization.  The three major religions of the world are Judaism, Islam, and Christianity.  The humanitarian sometimes tries to hide from the needs of people for religion and faith in God.  Not only that, Islam which entered the world as a religious national movement is already the religion of one third of the world.  The Nations of the world today have a difficulty coping with the demands of immigrants from Muslim nations.  Muslim nations are growing in technology and developing nuclear weapons.  Pakistan is a democratic parliamentary federal republic with Islam as the State religion which has nuclear weapons. India which is Hindu has nuclear weapons.  Israel may have already nuclear weapons. India and Israel are both democratic nations connected to the free world.  However there are Muslim states which are not democratic and developing nuclear weapons. Christian nations or nations which were once Christian nations are almost all democratic.  There are still nations in the world which are dictatorships, communist like North Korea and China.  If the whole world was free world it would be much easier for the United Nations to do its job. Today there isn’t World Unity even if there is a body of nations called the United Nations. Politics has limited the ability of the United Nations to do its job.

The Bible teaches that there is a conflict in life between the individual and the group.  In the beginning Adam was alone living without the pressures of the group or the nation.  Each human being is in the place of Adam.  Human rights is an issue which needs the attention of the United Nations.  The bible teaches, Man was created in the image of God.  Man is sacred because he is created in the image of God. Men and woman in the light of the Bible have human rights.  The interest of the nation can conflict with the interests of the individual.  The conflict between human rights and national interest is called in the language of the bible the seed of man and the seed of the animal.  A man that becomes a servant of his nation is no longer an individual in the place of Adam but part of the group called half a man or even an animal.  The individual in the nation is a servant of his nation.  If the nation is a dictatorship his free choice is almost completely limited.  Even in a free state the free choice of the individual is limited by obligation to the state and to his family.  A free state gives each citizen an equal vote equal importance.

Nazism limited the free choice of its people completely.  All the people of Germany were servants, soldiers of the fascist state the dictator.  Nazism is powerful in that it unites the nation in one goal, the fascist state.  The people were made to be animals instead of men.  Religious Nationalism can also reach this degree of nullification to its master, its law and nation which is dangerous to the rest of the world.  There can only be the goal of World Unity and Peace when the nations of the world unite with Adam and protect the rights of Adam.  The way of the dictatorship is described in the biblical passage, “man who will sacrifice an animal, a cow or a sheep.  Man in this case is the dictator who demands his nation to sacrifice their human rights and to kill for their nation.  Today in the New Age Adam is sacred.  Adam the first man was created in the image of God.  The nation is not Adam in the image of God but the feminine aspect of man his back and not his face, The Bible praises Adam in the Garden of Eden that his sacrifice was special.  He sacrificed a unicorn with one horn on the first day.  God singled out Adam as an example to protect his individuality.  The United Nations has the job to protect the individuality of humanity without forgetting that there is One God and One nation in the world.  The world became divided into seventy nations.  Israel was the best of these nations but not Adam who is equal to all of Israel and all the seventy nations.  Adam was a Godhead before the world became populated and divided into seventy nations. Today by returning to Adam who was created in the image of God and returning his human rights the world becomes united with the One God and there can be World Unity and Peace.  Sovereignty belongs to Adam before any nation in the world.  Freedom belongs to Adam his lost treasure.

Nationalism is important especially when the nation is ruled justly. When it includes in it freedom, it is united with the nation of God, the nation of Adam.  The Holocaust teaches that religious dictatorships are dangerous. Religious dictatorship today should be in the home and no longer political.

About the danger of global warming, it has already been prophesized in Malachi 3:19, For behold the day is coming, it burns like a furnace; and all the arrogant, and all who do wickedly, shall be stubble; and the day that is coming shall burn them up, says the Lord of Hosts.  The sages have said, The sun will go out of its sheath literally to mean in nature which will produce global warming like we see today.  The work of the United Nations is to prepare for this day through ecological improvements and through following the guidance of Elijah the prophet like it is written,  Behold I will send Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord; and he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the land with a curse.  According to this prophecy, the United Nations is the representative of Elijah the prophet in the cause of World Unity and Peace, the work of preventing another Holocaust.  As Pope Francis said in his New Year address, we are all artisans of peace. The world is ready for a spiritual awakening.
