Mexico’s President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and Brazil’s Jair Bolsonaro congratulated Mr. Biden for his apparent victory.
AMLO Congratulates Biden
At a press conference held at Mexico’s National Palace, the Mexican President said he sent his congratulatory message to Mr. Biden on Monday night, as soon as the US electoral college ratified his victory.
AMLO, a close ally of Donald Trump, was, until now, one of the few top world leaders who had not yet recognized Joe Biden. Just like President Trump himself, AMLO admitted the possibility of electoral fraud in the recently held US presidential elections.
President Obrador said at the press conference that he sent a letter to Mr. Biden on Monday night after he obtained more than the 270 votes from the Electoral College necessary to elect him as the next President of the United States.
In the letter, President Obrador praises Mr .Biden’s position on immigration issues and stated his desire to speak “soon” with the new US President on this and other issues.
“I also want to express my recognition of your stance in favor of migrants from Mexico and the rest of the world, which will allow us to continue with plans to promote development and welfare in southeastern Mexico and the countries of Central America,” AMLO’s congratulatory note read in part.
“I believe that this way, nobody will be forced to leave the land of their birth, and they will be able to live, work and be happy with their family and among their people and their culture,” the letter continued. “In this way, we can create a definitive solution to migratory flows from and through Mexico toward the United States,” President Obrador added.
Bolsonaro congratulates Biden
On Tuesday, Brazil’s President, Jair Bolsonaro, also congratulated Mr. Biden, declaring himself ready to work with the future American administration in an “alliance” between the two countries.
“Greetings to the President Joe Biden, with ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਸ਼ੁੱਭਕਾਮਨਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਮੀਦ ਹੈ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕਿ USA will remain ' ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਦੀ ਮੁਫ਼ਤ ਅਤੇ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਦੀ ਬਹਾਦਰ, '' ਬੋਲਸਨਾਰੋ wrote on Twitter, quoting the last verse of the American national anthem.
“I will be ready to work with you and continue to build a Brazil-USA alliance, in defense of sovereignty, democracy and freedom around the world, as well as in trade integration,” ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ.
President Bolsonaro was the last leader among the major economies in the world to congratulate Mr. Biden, even behind the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.
A declared admirer of the outgoing US President, Donald Trump, defeated by Mr. Biden in November, President Bolsonaro has delayed until the very last moment to recognize the defeat of his main ally in the world.
