Russia is testing the first of its kind circulation pump RCP-1753. The new technology will allow to implement the highest levels of the safety for the nuclear plants. The long term objective is to provide the new technology around the globe. The design was developed by the Central Design Bureau of Machine Building, which is part of the Rosatom Corporation.
The Design Bureau of the Machine building is the leader in the nuclear operations and design in Russia. Additionally, the Bureau designs and manufactures hermetic, cantilever, feed, emergency pumps for nuclear power plants and a wide range of remote-controlled equipment for working with radioactive materials.
It also offers technological solutions in the field of thermal energy, gas and oil industry, shipbuilding and equipment processing plants of solid waste. ROSATOM is the Russian State Nuclear Energy Corporation, which is headquartered in Moscow that specializes in nuclear energy.
According to the project director Alexander Pokhomenko “Resource tests of the GTsNA-1753 are carried out at the production site “TsKBM 2” in the city of the Sosnovy Bor, St Petersburg. On the stand, which is a fragment of a reactor plant, the unit will operate for the five thousand hours in the conditions that are fully corresponding to the actual operating conditions at the nuclear plant.
The pumping of the coolant is at the temperature of up to the 300 degrees Celsius (572 Fahrenheit) and at the pressure of up to the 200 atmospheres. After the completion of resource tests, revision and acceptance tests, the unit will be ready for acceptance by the customers.

Moreover, the new pump will allow to have less of the metal consumption and the reduction of the weight by the several tons. In addition the repair of the pump will be efficient and much faster than any pumps that are available on the market.
It is expected that multiple contracts will be signed with the foreign corporation for the installation of the pumps on their nuclear units. It is also a good opportunity to invest in the market share. The units will be also competitively priced and expected to be delivered by the next year.
