Russia, US Geopolitical and Spy Games

  • Bulgaria requested aid from the Kremlin into the explosions at their arms depot.
  • Belarus immediately requested the US to aid in the investigation of the Lukashenko assassination attempt.
  • The Covid 19 vaccine political games continue.

The relationship between the US and Russia continues to be tense. At present, there are multiple spy games that are taking place between a myriad of nations. Furthermore, Russia and the US have made provocative statements and proposals pertaining the retaliatory sanctions. In addition,

Bulgaria accused the Kremlin of being involved in the explosions at the military depots in Bulgaria. Bulgaria also expelled an employee of the Russian Embassy in Sofia. At the same time, the Bulgarian officials appealed to the Russian government to aid in the investigation into the explosions. Maybe they want to trap the Russians into participating in the investigation.

The Russian government responded suggesting that Bulgaria should  investigate the private parties who have access to the arms trade. It should be noted, the Kremlin immediately used Belarus as a proxy in the mirror response by ordering the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to request help from the Biden administration to investigate the alleged assassination attempt on Lukashenko.  In reality, both of the scenarios are meant to be games in the geopolitical stratosphere.

Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko or Alyaksandr Ryhoravich Lukashenka is a Belarusian politician who has served as the first and only president of Belarus since the establishment of the office on 20 July 1994.

The politicization of the Covid vaccines continues  to gain traction. The provocative actions by the Czech Republic and Slovakia against the Russian vaccine “Sputnik V continue. These statements are designed to tarnish the quality of the vaccine and at the same time pinch the Kremlin, which uses the topic of the vaccine as a tool for foreign policy activities.

In reality, there should be access to the all Coronavirus vaccines to combat the pandemic. At present, India is one of the hardest hit with the Covid-19 pandemic and desperately needs large amounts of the vaccine doses to stop the spread of the virus.

Currently, there are over 157 million infected and over 3,200 deaths around the globe. The numbers could be higher, as Russia has been caught falsifying the true numbers of the infected and the number of the deaths as a result of the virus. Additionally, the Sputnik V vaccine is not recognized thus far to be sufficient for travel, due to the lack of recognition by the European Union.

Russia registered a second Covid-19 vaccine Sputnik Light.  Upon analyzing the information available, it is identical to the Sputnik V. The only difference is the Sputnik Light consists only of the first dose of the Sputnik V. Sputnik V consists of the two series of shots as the Pfizer vaccine does.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is a Turkish politician serving as the current President of Turkey. He previously served as Prime Minister of Turkey from 2003 to 2014 and as Mayor of Istanbul from 1994 to 1998.

Turkey has also decided to participate in Coronavirus vaccine games. Since the Joe Biden Administration recognized the Armenian genocide committed by Turkey in 1915, Turkish President Recep Erdgodan decided purposely to purchase the 50 million doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. This is the only way for Turkey to show disdain for the Armenian genocide recognition.

Erdogan can’t be trusted by the West or East. Just two weeks ago, Erdogan refused to recognize Crimea being part of Russia. As a domino effect, Russia suspended travel for Russian nationals to Turkey, but used the guise of Coronavirus pandemic security measures. Egypt benefited from the travel suspension with Turkey, luring Russian tourists to their resorts.

However, tensions between US and Russia are reverting further into the Cold War Era. On May 6th, Russia announced that any Russian national attending foreign seminars that are deemed a national security threat, upon return would be arrested in Russia.

It is not clear, what exact charges the individual would face and the length of the term. The due process in the Russian courts is not guaranteed. As of late, the lawyers defending individuals accused of treason are under attack, including arrests and seizure of documentation, which would be under attorney-client privilege.

Since the beginning of 2021, many Russian individuals have received a foreign agent designation, which impacts the livelihood of many journalists. Overall, it is clear the games between Russia and the US will continue in the near future.
