The United States had speculated that the peak of the Coronavirus crisis has passed, but now the number of new cases has risen sharply in four states— California, Florida, New York, and Texas. In Texas, 97% of ICU beds in Houston hospitals are reported full, and 27% of those ICU patients have COVID-19.
President Donald Trump has warned that he would deploy the military to states that would not take serious actions against protesters in the ongoing demonstrations against the death of George Floyd. Earlier on, the president had called on the governors to take charge and arrest the protesters.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, whose state has become the epicenter of the pandemic in the U.S., said President Trump has no power to open his state against his wishes. The Democrat said so in reaction to Trump, who said on Monday that that as the President of the United States, he has “total authority.”
Britain’s Deputy Health Minister Nadine Dorries said that she has tested positive for coronavirus. By issuing a statement, she has said that as soon as she was told about it, she has taken all the precautions and separated herself from her house. Dorries thanked the Health Department for informing her of the infection on time.
