Whether it’s because the Internet gives us all the ability to share and see information at lightning speed, or whether animal abuse is just a fact of life, it seems society has experienced an increase of abuse against what is normally considered a cherished pet: the family dog.
According to a report issued by The Humane Society, of the more than 1,200 reported cases of animal cruelty in 2017 (the most recent year statistics are available) over 70% of those acts were committed against dogs. Cats came in a distant second, with just over 20%.
