Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who was fired after being accused of having killed the African-American man, George Floyd, was released on Wednesday after posting a bond of $1 million. The Department of Corrections confirmed that the ex-police officer left the Oak Park Heights maximum-security correctional facility.
New transcripts have given a detailed account of George Floyd’s arrest and last moments. Transcripts on footage recorded from body cameras fitted on officers Thomas Lane and Alexander Kueng revealed that Floyd said “I can’t breathe” 20 times. His pleas were dismissed by Derek Chauvin who said, “it takes a heck of a lot of oxygen to talk.”
