President Nayib Bukele confirmed the first case of coronavirus in El Salvador on Wednesday in a person who traveled to Italy. The Nicaraguan government also confirmed its first case of COVID-19 Wednesday in a 40-year-old man who arrived a few days ago from Panama. They were the last two countries in Latin America that had not reported infections.
On the same day that the World Health Organization officially announced the new coronavirus epidemic entered a “global pandemic”, US President Donald Trump announced a 30-day ban on all European and American travel, except the UK. In addition, he also criticized the European Union for not trying to control the epidemic as quickly as possible, saying that the case of community infection in the United States was caused by Europe.
El Salvador’s President, Nayib Bukele, has ordered that all Venezuelan diplomats appointed by President Nicolas Maduro must leave the country within two days.
