German FM Discusses Regional Issues with Saudis, Presses for Reforms

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas and Saudi Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud met in Berlin Friday. Maas said that Germany and Saudi Arabia agreed to prevent Iran from possessing a nuclear bomb. At a joint press conference with Prince Faisal, Maas said that talks between the two sides centered on conflicts in the region, including Libya, Syria, and Yemen, and Iran’s violation of the nuclear agreement.

Maas Urges Countries to Respect Arms Embargo in Libya

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas announced on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference that the International Berlin Follow-up Commission on Libya agrees that the UN Security Council resolution on Libya is binding to all parties. Four weeks ago, world leaders in Berlin pledged to comply with the UN arms embargo on Libya and not support parties involved in Libya. German FM Says Turkish Invasion Violates International Law

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has criticized Turkey’s military operation in Syria Sunday. Maas has threatened that as Erdogan continues to operate in northern Syria, Europe will cut funding for the asylum agreement with Turkey. Maas, in connection with Turkish military attacks on Kurdish militias in northern Syria, has said that the operation is not legitimate under international law.
