The Chinese and Indian armies clashed again on the Himalayan border this week. According to AFP, a member of the Indian Special Border Force was unfortunately killed in the clash. This is the first death reported from two incidents which occurred in the last 48 hours.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said, in a routine press conference, that Americans who “behave badly” on Tibet-related issues would be restricted from visiting the far west, predominantly Buddhist region. This was seen as another tit-for-tat on visa restrictions between Washington and Beijing.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said that China should make public the information about the Panchen Lama, the Tibetan religious leader chosen by the Dalai Lama. Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, the 11th Panchen Lama, was kidnapped by Chinese authorities 25 years ago when he was just six years old. Now he is 31 years old.
