Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a bill to postpone the end of World War II from September 2 to September 3, 1945. This revision has important political and diplomatic implications. The bill was signed on April 24, 2020. According to Kremlin, the bill is aimed at restoring historical truth and strengthening Russia’s national unity.
On March 2, 2020, the Vatican opened its World War II documents from their archive. Until now, they were kept a secret because of suspicions that the head of the Catholic Church at that time, Pope Pius XII, turned a blind eye to the horrors of the Holocaust. Pope Pius XII was born Eugenio Maria Giuseppe Giovanni Pacelli and was head of the Catholic Church from 1939 to 1958. He is sometimes referred to as “Hitler’s Pope.” Some historians claim that the Pontiff knew about the mass murder of Jews by the Nazis, but failed to do anything.
In 1939, Operation Bernhard was a Nazi Germany project to forge British banknotes, counterfeit currencies. Originally, the project was dubbed “Andreas”. A the time the British pound was the reserve currency and was used as a main international payment method.

The German Government launched an official search for secret tunnels at the former Buchenwald Nazi Concentration camp in the beginning of this month. The camp was established on the Ettersberg hill near Weimar, Germany, in July 1937. Buchenwald was one of the first and the largest of the concentration camps within Germany’s 1937 borders. The name of the camp translated in English means “Beech forest.” The Ancient and Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe is a transnational composite nature UNESCO World Heritage site, encompassing forests in 12 European countries. Many actual or suspected communists were among the first internees at the camp.
