Today, Tencent announced the official launch of the “SaaS Technology Alliance,” in conjunction with Kingdee, UFIDA, Youzan, Weimeng, SalesEasy, Liudurenhe, Daoyi, Kenexa (KNX) and other external SaaS vendors. Tencent’s internal SaaS products, such as corporate WeChat, Tencent conferences, and corporate sites, will jointly build a technology platform.
As an important part of Tencent’s SaaS ecosystem “Qianfan Plan,” the “SaaS Technology Alliance” aims to solve the problems of interconnection, efficient integration, and R & D efficiency among SaaS vendors, thereby improving the R & D and delivery efficiency of SaaS vendors.
The domestic SaaS industry is still in the growth stage. A single SaaS vendor is limited by its technical product capabilities and other issues, and it is difficult to grow. On the one hand, SaaS vendors build their own large and small ecology to form many “disconnected fish ponds.” It is difficult for one family to complete the integration of multiple SaaS applications. On the other hand, a single SaaS vendor lacks a PaaS platform to support customized projects, and it is difficult to deliver large customer projects. The self-built PaaS platform requires a lot of research and development investment, and it is difficult to see results in the short term.
In the face of these challenges, the solution given by Tencent is to jointly build technology with Taiwan. The technology platform includes IDaaS (Identity as a service), iPaaS (integrated platform as a service) and aPaaS (application platform as a service). IDaaS aims to establish a unified account system to realize account communication. IPaaS provides APIs through a standard and secure authorization model to facilitate mutual integration between manufacturers. The aPaaS platform will bring together the technical capabilities of partners and Tencent Cloud, such as Tencent Cloud, The capabilities of AI, IoT, and big data, as well as the technical capabilities of SaaS vendors in specific business scenarios, are convenient for SaaS vendors to call, thereby solving the problems faced by vendors when they develop new products and deliver customized projects.
Tang Daosheng, senior executive vice president of Tencent, and president of the cloud and smart industry business group, said that for the SaaS industry, building an interconnected platform, connecting various SaaS vendors and sharing production tools is a prerequisite for growing the SaaS market. It is also the goal of the SaaS Technology Alliance. He also pointed out that compared with the $100 billion market size of the European and American SaaS market, the domestic SaaS market still has huge imagination space, and hopes that SaaS companies with a market value of 10 billion will grow from this ecology in the future.
A person who has been observing the SaaS industry for a long time pointed out that the success of Salesforce, a well-known SaaS company in the United States, is not just about providing CRM services in the SaaS model. More importantly, Salesforce has long provided a complete set of development and trading platforms for SaaS vendors, so that SaaS vendors can develop products based on this platform and form a complete ecosystem.
In China, cloud service vendors, such as Tencent, have established IT infrastructure and underlying technologies, while SaaS vendors are small in scale and difficult to support platform construction. The combination of the two is expected to form an ecosystem that integrates low-level technology, middle-level platforms, and upper-level applications.
The SaaS technology alliance is only part of Tencent’s SaaS ecosystem. At the end of October last year, Tencent launched the “Qianfan Plan.” The plan includes “three major projects at one end of the cloud.” Yiyun, on behalf of Tencent Cloud, will provide stable infrastructure and underlying technical support for SaaS enterprises, and one end will provide C2B connectivity for SaaS enterprises on behalf of WeChat. The three major projects include SaaS accelerators, SaaS Zhenxuan and SaaS technology alliances, which provide vendors with sales, technology, capital, and training services.
