The NASA Curiosity Rover Discovers PVC-Type Object. Is There Pipe on Mars? (PHOTO)

  • Four NASA Rovers Have Been Returning Stunning Images From Mars For Decades.
  • Examination of Those Images Have Produced Some Curious Results.
  • Some Images Seem to Confirm There May Have Once Been Intelligent Life on Mars.

An image recently returned to NASA by the Curiosity Rover appears similar to (for lack of a better description) PVC-style plumbing pipe found here on Earth. Is it evidence of an advanced civilization which went extinct somewhere in the deep history of Mars? The photo, reproduced and enlarged in the picture above, shows a distinctly pipe-like shape inconsistent with the surrounding rocks and unusual for its lengthy, rounded and ramrod-straight form and appearance. In other words, it doesn’t look like it belongs there.

Curiosity is a car-sized rover designed to explore the crater Gale on Mars as part of NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory mission (MSL). Curiosity landed on Mars on August 6, 2012, after a 560 million km (350 million mi) journey. The rover’s goals include an investigation of the Martian climate and geology; assessment of whether the selected field site inside Gale has ever offered environmental conditions favorable for microbial life, including investigation of the role of water; and planetary habitability studies in preparation for human exploration.

Even on Earth, rock formations have a tendency toward craggy roundness (caused by erosion and other forces) and it’s rare to find straight lines in natural settings. Usually, such shapes and characteristics are the result of intent, functional design and superior intelligence.

While the overwhelming majority of the thousands of images all rovers on Mars have returned to NASA confirm that the Red Planet is dead and not suitable for lifeforms found here on our own planet (there have been four so far, with Curiosity being the latest and most advanced spacecraft) it’s fairly well accepted Mars once had an Earth-like atmosphere capable of sustaining life and that running water may have been abundant on and underneath the Martian surface.

It has also been theorized that water is trapped under the North Pole of Mars, but is in a permanently frozen state. And, Methane, an important and essential element for life as we know it, has recently been discovered in concentrated amounts, and detected by the Curiosity rover.

One hallmark of any advanced civilization is the transport of water from its source to a dryer location necessary for a population to thrive by means of access to drinking water, cultivating agriculture, addressing sanitary concerns and even the luxury of regular bathing. Think of Ancient Greece and Rome.

Excavations on Earth have revealed our own ancestors ingeniously transported water to farms and cities by means of aqueducts, extensive sewage systems and pipelines into public wells or fountains. And, in our modern world, pipeline water transport is crucial to healthy living and allows us to thrive in even the most hostile environments.

Is it possible that a past Martian civilization built such an extensive network of plumbing for the purpose of transporting water from an abundant source to dryer settings, much as we do today?

Pareidolia is caused by the tendency of the human brain to interpret a vague stimulus as something known and familiar to the observer, such as seeing shapes in clouds or divining faces in objects and abstract patterns.

Of course, this strange rock formation could be completely natural and we may be falling victim to a phenomena known as pareidolia.

That is the tendency to “see” objects that look like one thing but are entirely another. In the last few decades. there have been a plethora of “discoveries” in Mars rover images which seem to suggest that advanced lifeforms may have once lived on the planet.

Most experts believe the pareidolia effect is at play in those cases. But, this image is unique in that it appears to be evidence of intelligent design and superior manufacturing for a specific and vital purpose.

So, the mystery remains.

A new rover, tentatively named Mars 2020, is being prepared for launch next July and will hopefully make a successful landing in February, 2021. NASA states its mission will be to “investigate (Mars’) surface geological processes and history, including the assessment of its past habitability, the possibility of past life, and the potential for preservation of biosignatures within accessible geological materials.”

So, one could say that, once and for all, we may finally solve the question of whether or not there has ever been intelligent life on Mars. And, that the discovery of strange objects like this one may just be a pipeline to the ancient past.

What do you think? Is it possible there was once an advanced civilization on Mars?
