- What is truth? Can something be true for me and not true for you?
- My main intent in writing this book is to use God’s Word, the Bible, to distinguish between God’s truth and Satan’s seductive deceptions.
- Churches that stand for nothing will fall for anything! Why are churches becoming more secular? Could it be that no conflict equals more people which equals more money?
- Sin is man’s terminal illness, but faith/belief in Jesus the Christ is God’s only antidote! All God’s promises hinge on having faith/belief.
- Truth in scripture will set you free but secularism will destroy the soul.
We all know that not telling the truth or telling a lie destroys trust and relationships. Telling the truth may involve embarrassment and even conflict in the beginning but “The Truth Will Set you Free!” What is truth? Webster’s dictionary defines truth: “1: TRUTHFULINESS, HONESTY 2: the real state of things: FACT 3: the body of real evidence or facts: ACTUALITY.”
How often have you heard statements like: “God loves everyone unconditionally” or “God gave us freewill as he didn’t want us to be robots.” from the pulpit? Although many people believe this, that is not what the Bible proclaims. We all must know the truth about eternity as eternity is forever, a long, long time!
Growing up I witnessed the decline of the “Christian Church”. Many people don’t realize that until the mid-1960’s most public schools actually had the Bible read over the intercom every morning along with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Back then, there were “blue laws” preventing shopping on Sunday and families usually spent that day together. Where I grew up the residents never locked their doors. Crime was minimal, divorce and out of wedlock births were the extreme exception.
I am a “lay person” but have been studying the Bible for over 25 years. I have been involved in in (BSF), Bible Study Fellowship for about 20 years and have been involved in numerous other Bible studies over that time period. My biblical knowledge has caused me discomfort over discrepancies in what I had been hearing from many church pulpits. Prior to joining the Lutheran Church I was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church.
I left the Episcopal Church due to a local dispute over the Priest’s belief that Jesus Christ was just one of the ways that someone could be saved. He was quoted saying: “we don’t want any talk about ‘one wayism’ around here.” The Bible talks about a time on earth when men will abandon God’s word and follow their own way; they will rationalize immorality and deviant behavior. 2 Timothy 4:3-4 “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” I believe that time has finally come.
Because of all the misinformation coming from many churches throughout the country, I felt compelled to write and publish a book: “The Truth Will Set You Free, Eleven Myths Satan Uses to Deceive Man.” My main intent in writing this book is to use God’s Word, the Bible, to distinguish between God’s truth and Satan’s seductive deceptions. The Bible is God’s “Use and Care Manual” for our abundant life here on earth and for eternity.
Every person is either lost or saved and will live in either in Heaven or Hell for eternity. My book offer’s hundreds of verses proving that my eleven myths are truly myths! Therefore, it is essential that we know the truth in the Bible regarding the most important issues affecting our lives here on earth and more importantly for eternity. Matthew 16:26 “What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?”
What you believe has eternal consequences. Satan does not want you to know God’s truth and be set free from sin’s bondage and death. John 3:36 “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.” Belief in God is only the 1st step in having a relationship with God as even the demons believe in God. James 2:19 “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.”
Satan uses logic, emotion, and opinions of others to lead us astray. We must trust only in God’s inspired Word, the Bible, for real truth. When a passage in the Bible is not clear or seems to contradict God’s Word, find other passages that are clearer on the subject. Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way that appears to be right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.”
God’s word is mocked, distorted and lied about continuously. Satan and his followers want to remove even the mention God/Jesus from everything everywhere. Their lies/distortions will cost them dearly in eternity but they also lead many others astray. Heaven has no place for liars as they are equated with murderers, the cowardly, the unbelieving and the vile. Revelations 21:8 “But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
Today the secular world blurs the true meaning of truth. They believe that what is true for you may not be the same as what is true for me. Blurring truth is not new as Satan has been bending the truth ever since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. Satan lied about what God actually said to Adam and Eve. Genesis 2:16-17 “And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” Satan’s lie and Adan and Eve’s disobedience has caused the death and decay of everything ever since. Genesis 3:4-5 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
Man’s eyes were opened to the ”knowledge of good and evil”. However, death to every living thing was an extremely high price to pay for that knowledge. The knowledge of evil has drawn man into continuous sin/disobedience ever since Adam and Eve’s disobedience. Today, sin is beyond man’s ability to resist by his own power!
Satan has been successful as secularism has taking over and promoted by the main stream media, our public schools, our universities, our state and local governments and even in many Christian Churches today. In regard to churches, there is an old saying: “Churches that stand for nothing will fall for anything!”
Unfortunately many churches have compromised Gods truth in order to attract more members. They have sold out to the secular world by compromising the truth in scripture which clearly states sins damming effect on man. They ignored the” just wrath” of God which is also a part of His character. Romans 2:5 “But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.” Hebrews 10:30-31 “For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people, It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”
Sin is man’s terminal illness, but faith/belief in Jesus the Christ is God’s only antidote! All God’s promises hinge on having faith/belief. However, the other ingredient to being a true Christin is obedience to His teaching. John 8:31-32 “Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 14:21 “Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
Jesus is the absolute truth! John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except me.” Notice Jesus states that He is the “truth.” Satan is at the opposite end of truth and deceives man by bending the truth just enough be believed by most people. Satan is “the author of lies!” John 8:34 “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
Even many pastors/priests bend God’s truth by stating that God loves everyone “unconditionally.” Many church members after hearing this message will have one or two of the following responses:
- If God loves me “unconditionally”, then He doesn’t care what sins I commit or how I live my life, therefore all people will go to heaven.
- Logic and personal experience in day to day life, raises serious questions regarding God’s “unconditional love” because of wars, natural disasters, sickness or death of a loved one.
The above responses sow seeds of doubt in people’s minds regarding the truth of scripture. Chapter #5 clearly illustrates that God loves His children unconditionally but certainly not everyone!
Another major myth believed by most Christians is that God gave us “freewill” to choose Jesus as God didn’t want us to be robots. Yes, God did give man freewill to sin and do almost everything except make a decision for Him and Jesus Christ. This myth causes pride in many believers. They take self-credit for their faith and think they are smarter and better than their non-believing sinful neighbors. Someone told a friend that he didn’t want to join his church because there were so many hypocrites there. The response was “but we always have room for one more. If you ever could find the perfect church, “don’t join it because you will ruin it.”
My prayer is that my book: The Truth Will Set You Free, Eleven Myths that Satan Uses to Deceive Man will inspire others to seek out God’s truth for themselves. I know for example that “freewill to choose Jesus” and “God’s unconditional love for everyone” are two controversial subjects. I hope that the readers will keep an open mind and believe God’s word rather than their own logic or what others have said regarding the subjects mentioned in my book. If they do that then, “the truth will set them free!”
I am now recovering from open heart surgery this December. There by the grace of God, I am now cured of my chronic a-fib, my leaking arterial heart valve and have a new working pacemaker.
Once this deadly virus has been dissipated, I will be in great shape as CEO to travel to Guatemala with Pastor Miguel Torneire, Developing Our World’s Executive Director. Our mission is to: “Make the World a Better Place, One Village at a Time.” Developing Our World is a holistic, comprehensive ministry dedicated to helping the poor in undeveloped countries both spiritually and physically. They work to get the people involved in needed projects rather than just throwing money at the solution. In many instance this may cause more harm than good.
