- Most people are innocent witnesses of the conflicts in today’s life between democracy and theocracy.
- Being a witness in court demands to tell the truth. Most people are not interested in knowing the truth even if they are witnesses like today.
- Democracy is a way of government and theocracy is a way. Both sides need to recognize the other even if the Koran or Torah preach one way their way.
Most people are innocent witnesses of the conflicts in today’s life between democracy and theocracy. In common folk language we are Jehovah witnesses seeing history revealed. Sunday morning in Brooklyn, we would wake up late and about noon time would come to our doors two very lovely ladies to give us some help. They were carrying a Bible and some pamphlets which said on them “Jehovah Witnesses.” We were not Orthodox Jewish but maintained in our house Jewish Tradition. My mother was respectful to these missionaries. Not interested was our answer and they tried to accept it.
Being a witness in court demands to tell the truth. Most people are not interested in knowing the truth even if they are witnesses like today. Even King Solomon who the wisest of all men, was humble to say that there are things which he didn’t understand. His writing Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, and Psalms 120 – 134 are incredibly genius. A Jew reads the Jewish Bible. Christians like Jehovah Witnesses read the Bible with their translation and the New Testament. Occasionally Jews knowledgeable in Torah the Jewish Bible may argue with these representatives of Jehovah witnesses. There seems to be a disagreement between both sides which ends up without answers.
Today the western world has confronted a new religion which is Islam. The Muslim population has grown in the Western world. Muslim is somewhat like Orthodox Jewish with several differences. Muslims and Orthodox Jewish in their synagogues and mosques have no pictures or statues. Churches have the statue and pictures of one chosen man Jesus the Messiah. Jews did not accept Jesus as their Messiah. Muslims recognize Jesus as a prophet but do not accept the teachings of Jesus and his disciples. Greeks and Romans had many Gods and many statues in their temples. Each religion of the three religions worship one deity unlike the Greeks and Romans worshipping many Gods.
Americans live in a democratic nation. Russia was once called the USSR a communist nation. There was once a Cold War between these two nations conflicting ideologies. Communism is a dictatorship with limited freedom. The law in Judaism and Islam are also a form of dictatorship which has been labeled Theocracy. The Biblical State of Israel was a monarchy. It was a one religion nation. Islam according to the Koran and Sharia has replaced the Law of Moses as the divine word of God. There are changes between Koran Sharia and Torah. Muslims say, Moses is accepted as the receiver of the law of God but God gave Mohammed the right to change it. Christianity accepts the Old Bible but has added to it the New Testament. The New Testament gave permission to worship Jesus the Messiah with God. Islam and Judaism worship God alone and none else. Christians are opened minded to the Jewish way but have added a second path to heaven through Jesus. Muslims lived peacefully with Jews in the Middle East until the establishment of Israel. There was more a conflict between Muslim and Christian. The Ottoman Empire fought with the Byzantine Christian Empire.
Most of the conflicts between Judaism, Christianity and Islam come through the strict interpretation of their laws. Witnesses are innocent observers of these conflicts. Most people have not studied the whole Bible and for sure not the whole Koran. American and the modern world believe in democracy. Theocracy Islam and Strict Orthodox Judaism are at war with democracy. Christians are sometimes at war with democracy. In Poland there were violent demonstrations against a gay parade.
Democracy in the courts has recently limited religious freedom by outlawing building of religious monuments like a Cross on highways and in shopping centers. The Supreme Court ruled against tearing down established monuments but cautioned against building new religious monuments. Democracy has separated Church from State and declared that religion intrudes on freedom. America began as a theocracy, one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all. It was a theocracy with freedom unlike Judaism or Islam which are theocracy without or with limited freedom. Atheism today has become a religion in some places without freedom China and in some places with freedom. LGBT is a freedom cult.
There have developed in the world three laws of God and one law against God or agnostic. Islam and Torah law not progressive spiritual but are theocracy against democracy. There is a middle path which is theocracy with freedom like was in the beginning when America was formed. Recently freedom became anti-religion when people wanted to separate church and state completely. Separation of church and state was once interpreted separate but united like man and woman in love and marriage. Today church and state are two without love between them; even sometimes with hate and resentment. Church and State are like man and woman, opposites in a free society but they have lost their love.
The main purpose in life according to the Bible, Koran, Bhagavad Gita is to unite male and female opposites. There was a purpose in separation of church and state; but there was also a purpose in creating harmony between them. Today there is no harmony. The problem is in the interpretation of separation of church and state which has become suppression of church and endorsement of faithlessness.
Jews refused to change to accept the reforms which Jesus proposed. They remained theocracy without freedom until today. Islam children of Abraham came to deny the need to change and become Christian under the pressures of the crusades. They both remain firm in fear of being overcome by freedom losing all holiness to profanity like has occurred today. They both considered the way proposed by Jesus dangerous.
Jesus was right and Judaism and Islam were right as has become apparent through allowing abortions, gay marriages and gay parades throughout the Christian world. Jesus was right that religion without freedom lacks joy and love.
We are witnesses of life. History is being made every day. Learn from life experience. Respect Judaism and Islam. Respect the Pope. Respect Moses the prophet the receiver and giver of the Torah for all wisdom is in it. Democracy and freedom have two sides which require on both sides toleration.
Jews read each week a Torah portion. This week is the story in Numbers: 18, the sage a Levite Korach proposed to Moses build the Jewish nation as a democracy. Each person should be given equal status. Jews wear a four cornered garment which has on these corners fringes which hang down called Tziztis. These tziztis represent the 613 commandments interwoven in the garment by attaching the Tziztis. One of these four threads that are interwoven is blue. Korach said make the whole garment blue like the heaven and forget about these tziztis these commandments let there be freedom democracy. Believe in One God and give each person free choice. Blue is the color of the heaven. Let the earth be like heaven with joy and happiness a heavenly life with freedom the American dream. God punished Korach. He was swallowed up under the earth. The Jewish people could not survive as a people throughout the generations before and after the destruction of the temple as a free nation. Democracy is another alternative from theocracy. Jesus offered the same alternative to Rome and they accepted it. Judaism and Islam did not accept it. The Orthodox Catholic church did not accept complete freedom and instituted laws. The people rebelled and later came Protestant faith.
Democracy is a way of government and theocracy is a way. Both sides need to recognize the other even if the Koran or Torah preach one way their way. People will be punished for sin in the afterlife if not in this world. The way of Progressive Jewish spirituality which is also the way of Bhai faith to unite all three sides Judaism Christianity and Islam together with freedom. The wrong way is freedom without religion. Religion without freedom like Judaism never changes. Religion is like an antique which becomes more valuable with age as the heritage grows but practically it is outdated. It is a problem for the Modern State of Israel a democracy because Orthodox Judaism is the very source of being a Jew. In Judaism today is two ways democracy and theocracy . The wise face the reality and accept the Democracy of today but their way is theocracy.
Biblical wisdom displayed (see pictures). There are two types of Tallis prayer Shawls. One is used for prayer which can cover the whole head. The other is placed over the neck and is worn under a shirt. At the bottom of the Tallis are Tzitzis called fringes. The fringes represent the laws and commandments twirled around to equal 613 commandments in Jewish law. The Prayer Shawl which covers the head at the time of prayer represents Theocracy with freedom. The time of prayer is about the only time in Jewish life where a Jew can cover his head with the Tallis, pray and forget the troubles of life connecting with God. The small Tallis which is worn inside does not cover the head representing Theocracy without freedom which is classic Judaism. Freedom to Jews comes at the time of prayer and at the time of studying the law. There is a blue thread which is twirled around with four white threads on the fringes at the bottom of the biblical garment. Blue represents freedom like the color of the skies. In Judaism there is freedom theocracy with freedom but it is limited one string out of four. Democracy in contrast to Theocracy is compared to a Tallis also called an Arab shawl without Tzitsis fringes without all the laws in the Torah which Jewish people keep. All people the children of Noah are commanded in seven laws. Adam had almost complete freedom in the Garden of Eden before the sin. See illustrations.
