US Announces New Sanctions Against Ukrainian Politicians, Media

  • The sanctions include Ukrainian politicians and businesses.
  • The list includes one of the prosecutors in Ukraine.
  • Ukraine wants to implement the social score system modeled after China.

The US government announced the implementation of new sanctions against Ukrainian politicians. These politicians are accused of interference in the US elections. The list includes Andrii Derkach, who was a proxy used by Russia to leak the information regarding Joe Biden’s son, Hunter.

Andrii Derkach is a politician and businessman who is a member of the Ukrainian parliament (Verhovna Rada) and an activist of the Russian Orthodox Church. On December 5, 2019, Derkach met with U.S. President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani in Kyiv to put together a corruption case against former Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter.

Derkach’s political career started during the presidency of Leonid Kuchma (1994-2005). However, he was able to adapt consistently under new leaders.

Derkach is a chameleon and able to constantly change his political views if necessary. Hence, it is highly likely that he is a proxy for hire.

It should be noted that Hunter Biden is currently under investigation in the US for unrelated alleged crimes. Nevertheless, it should not impact Joe Biden’s presidency.

The list also includes Oleksandr Dubinsky, Konstantin Kulik, Aleksandr Onischenko, Andréi Telizhenko, Dmytro Kovalchuk, Anton Simonenko, and Petro Zhuravel.

The Ukrainian-based internet source Nabu Leaks and Behemoth Media are sanctioned as well.

Kulik is a Ukrainian prosecutor. There is speculation that he only made the list after wanting to legitimately prosecute the former president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko.

Therefore, the question remains, why would the US issue sanctions against him? Is it because Poroshenko is still expected to be of value to the Biden administration ?

Moreover, Onischenko, who is on the list, is no longer residing in Ukraine and was robbed by Poroshenko in a hostile takeover of his business. NABU should be investigating and prosecuting, as it is a clear case of corruption.

The media sources that made the list were created specifically to leak information that includes alleged discussions between Mr. Biden and Poroshenko.  The sanctions against Derkach are justifiable and necessary, but the other parties? However, even with the sanctions, Derkach will not experience turmoil.

Igor Kolomoisky, former Governor of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, is already persona non grata in Russia, and is hated within the former Soviet Bloc. The Kremlin will not forget his involvement of the suppression of the pro-Russian events in Dnepropetrovsk. At present, Kolomoisky has indictments in the US and has an Israeli passport.

Petro Poroshenko (born 26 September 1965) is a Ukrainian businessman and politician who served as the fifth President of Ukraine from 2014 to 2019.

This year will be interesting regarding the US and Ukraine’s relationship under the newly-elected US President, Joe Biden. The Ukrainian elites believe, as long as they keep being favorable to Biden, they will be accepted to the West.

In reality, a majority of them are traitors and will switch sides at a moment’s notice, if it benefits them. While the US has been the main benefactor of Ukraine, China seems to be forging ahead to develop a relationship.

The Verkhovna Rada is developing a project that will allow the introduction of a “digital dictatorship” in Ukraine. The new system is modeled with aid from China. The new  assessment of citizens is by various parameters and modeled on China’s social credit system.

Points will be awarded for useful social activities, such as donation, volunteering, and pro-Ukranian posts on social media.  The new system will be embodied within the new Civil Code. China announced last week the Civil Code includes full control by the Chinese communist government.

Will the highest bidder for Ukraine be China or the US?
