- Many claims of religion, Only One Way.
- We are in this world and just passing through.
- We are to trust God through the good times as well as the bad times.
What or who is a Christian? That is a question that would take many more words than I can write, but I will attempt to explain. I heard a message from our Pastor tonight titled “Suffer and Sanctify” and it gave me an idea of what a real Christian is.
First, we need to truly believe that Jesus Christ was God’s Son as well as being God. This is confusing but I will try to explain that God is a trinity. God the Father who always was, always is, and always will be. He is also God the Son, who always was and always is, and always will be. He is also God The Holy Spirit who always was, always is, and always will be. God in three persons but one God.
If you try to reason this out, it will hurt your mind and you can’t explain it. We humans are three in one also, Body, our earth suit, and our soul/spirit which is who we are. When a Christian dies, the body is left behind and our soul/spirit go to be with God to await the time when we will be given our heavenly body that will live forever. No more pain, no more sorrow, no more dying.
Enough of that for now. A Christian is not perfect, but he or she is forgiven. We make mistakes and sin, but we will be prompted by the Holy Spirit to confess that sin and God forgives us. Does that mean we can continue sinning and God will keep forgiving us? No God will let us go for a time, but if we get to a place that we are going to harm another person with our behavior, God will sometimes take that person home sooner than they would have.
A true Christian is sometimes sick, ill and in a lot of pain. It is true that sometimes God will step in and heal someone but generally we are to trust God through the good times as well as the bad times. He promised to always be with us and after all He suffered the cruelest pain of all by being crucified on a cruel cross for us. He paid the penalty for the sin that Adam and Eve committed in the garden and brought the curse of death to the human race.
We are set apart for Christ, we are in this world and just passing through. At all times we are to be ready to tell those who ask why we are different. We will be made fun of and persecuted. But if we stand fast, and continue to trust God and Our Savior Jesus, He has promised to come again and take us out of this world before the great tribulation God is going to send on this earth. If there is an interest in this, I will have more articles later on this subject. Go with God and God bless America. Rich
