Will Quantum Navigation Replace GPS?

Currently majority of the world is reliant on the satellite navigation systems. GPS is one of the most popular systems. A satellite navigation device is a device that is capable of receiving information from satellites and then to calculate the device’s geographical position.

GPS has been installed in the vehicles for a decade now. Russia has the own alternate of the GPS. GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System) is a space-based satellite navigation system operating as part of a radionavigation-satellite service.

GLONASS provides an alternative to GPS and is the second navigational system in operation with global coverage and of comparable precision.

This fall, Russia announced GPS like system for the moon. The moon GPS will be an integral tool and the solution that will be needed as part of the moon colony success.

Furthermore, GPS systems are expected to be upgrade. The new navigation tools and services will be solely based on the quantum physics principles.

According to the US military, there is a new system in the development with the quantum navigators. These navigators can completely change the global search engines. Hence, it would make satellite navigation services less needed.

Additionally, the new quantum navigators would be nearly impossible to hack. It should be noted, GPS systems have been hacked on multiple occasions. Russia likes to utilize the cyber warfare operations against the West.

It is also plausible, that last year Russia hacked the Galileo Satellite system. Galileo is owned by the collective European Union, managed and operated by the European Space Agency, and is used for nonmilitary, scientific, and civilian purposes.

The carbon lattice is when a  large number of atoms are covalently bonded together to form a 3 dimensional network lattice. Moreover, when a green laser beam passes through a cube, these nitrogen inclusions emit red light, the intensity of which depends on the strength and direction of the magnetic field acting on the cube.

Therefore, the new device can be used as a navigation system and no need for satellites, as it utilizes the Earth’s magnetic fields.

Currently, such a system is not used, since most magnetic sensors can only measure the strength of the field, but not its vector. The new device will be  capable of such, as it does not need any external communication.

The diamond is able to find the Earth’s magnetic field anomalies. The mapping is done with the high degree of accuracy. the GPS is not capable of such results.

Thus far, the new device are very large and massive. However, at one point and time the computers and cell phones were large in size as well. Over the years, the sizes became much smaller.

The new technology wont be ready until 2030. Until the transition occurs, GPS will remain on the market. It is also plausible the new technology would be used as complimentary to the existing GPS for the civilian purposes.

In the defense sector, GPS will eventually become unnecessary. Nevertheless, it would take time to get rid of the satellite navigation dependence in the military.
