Will Trump Start a War With Iran on His Way Out?

  • President Rouhani expressed hope that the events at the US Capitol will be a lesson for the whole world.
  • Iran has been preparing for war with the US for the past 30 years.
  • Russia will support Iran, if in fact the US-Iran war starts.

The President of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, used the events that unfolded on January 6th in the US as an opportunity for propaganda to the Iranian populous. This week, four Americans lost their lives in the process. Amongst the deceased were a police officer and a female US military veteran.

Hassan Rouhani is the seventh and current President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He has been a member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts since 1999, and was Chief Nuclear Negotiator from 2003 to 2005. He was re-elected President in 2017.

According to President Rouhani “these events showed that, despite the progress of science and technology in Western countries, populism and demagoguery still exist in this country, when for 4 years the US president managed to single-handedly tarnish the image of his country.”

He also added that “this weak-minded man Donald Trump came to power in the United States, caused damage to the country’s relations with the whole world and tangible blows both to his country and to the region of West Asia, Palestine, Syria, Yemen and other countries.”

President Rouhani expressed hope that the events at the US Capitol will be a lesson for the whole world, and for the next rulers of the White House, who will come to power in two weeks. Iran is hoping that the Iran-US relations will improve after the newly elected US president, Joe Biden, is inaugurated on January 20, 2021.

Furthermore, the Head of Council on Foreign Relations, Richard Haas, stated that the January 6th events are a clear sign that the US is starting to decline on the international arena.

Nevertheless, the question still remains, if the US President Donald Trump will start a war with Iran prior to his departure. It should be noted that Iran has been preparing for war with the US for the past 30 years.

The Iranian intelligence studied the assets and facilities that the US has. Iran even has the samples of US cruise missiles. Apparently, these samples were gathered with the aid of Russia in Syria. Iran did collect on their own samples from the US equipment in Iran and Syria.

Moreover, Russia continues to share with Iran the US radar and electronic cruise missile information. To note, Iran has never lost a war. It would be nearly impossible for the US to have the same action plan as there was one in Iraq.

Theoretically, Iran will also set the whole Gulf region on fire, and the US will never get access to the oil fields. Also, Iran has sophisticated defense technologies in comparison to the war in Iraq.

Relations between the Grand Duchy of Moscow and the Persian Empire (Iran), officially commenced in 1521, with the Safavids in power. Past and present contact between Russia and Iran have long been complicatedly multi-faceted; often wavering between collaboration and rivalry.

Russia added Iranian General Qasem Soleimani to the Russian Military Hall of Fame. Therefore, it is a clear indication that Russia will support Iran, if in fact the US-Iran war starts.

It is highly likely that Russia will provide additional defense equipment to Iran, and could even use proxies to aid Iran.

There is a possibility that Russia could deploy Russian special forces to Iran as well. At that point, the Kremlin could advance its geopolitical and strategic interests within the Middle East region.

At the same time, the US can inflict a lot of damage on Iran, but it does not mean the US would be successful for Iran to surrender. Also, the Iranian populous would not trust the US.

The US President, Jimmy Carter, betrayed Iran and as a result triggered the revolution in Iran in 1979.

Iran will utilize drone attacks. The drones used on the Saudi refineries were Iranian made, and the Yemenis are trained by Iran. The US B-52 bombers can be destroyed by Iran by ballistic missiles.

Overall, the next few months in the US will be important on the international arena. The world is watching and nations like Russia will use any weaknesses within US to advance personal agenda.
