- A controversial choice for the Super Bowl halftime show, Maroon 5, Travis Scott, and Big Boi played it safe, avoiding politics and, as some wags on social media noted, entertainment. “More maroons than points,” observed one, while ESPN’s Max Bretos complained, “Maroon 5 minutes too long.”
- Plenty of contenders vied for the honor of best Super Bowl ad, including the NFL itself, which assembled some all-time greats to kickoff their 100th anniversary season next year. The clear winner, however, was an unexpected crossover between Bud Light and HBO’s Game of Thrones.
